If you are looking for the best all around family vacation destination in the Smoky Mountains, it’s hard to do better than Townsend, Tennessee. Townsend has a multitude of events going on all throughout the year – from bluegrass music festivals to trout fishing tournaments. During each season, local artisans show their wares and share their talent with the public in gatherings that celebrate the “old time” way of life that is still cherished in the Smoky Mountains.
Townsend has a long and rich history of old time and bluegrass music that is celebrated throughout the year with festivals, concerts and good old fashioned hoe-downs! Jam sessions are regular occurrences here in Townsend – with locals teaming up with some of the biggest names in bluegrass to play all the old songs, and a few new ones too. The two biggest festivals for music are the Townsend Spring Festival at the beginning of May and the Townsend Fall Heritage Festival in September. Both feature bluegrass music on the stages as well as impromptu jam sessions under the trees and on the porches.
It’s not just bluegrass in Townsend, TN – there are many other types of music and dance that help to celebrate the country lifestyle “in harmony”! Dulcimers and mandolins play alongside fiddle and banjo, while performers do lively and intricate dances for everyone’s enjoyment. There is also a place for the young music lovers – with the Young Pickers Talent contest which is open to ages 17 and under.

The Pavilion at Smoky Ridge, formerly known as Heritage Park Townsend Tennessee, is the former site of Mountain View Weddings. The Pavilion at Smoky Ridge caters to both large and small wedding parties. We offer 3 locations to hold weddings, an interior reception hall, the Pavilion at Smoky Ridge, and our open air meadow, offering beautiful views for your Smoky Mountain Wedding. The reception hall easily holds 100 guests seated for a dinner. The wedding pavilion at Smoky Ridge comfortably holds 150 people at tables, with the bridal party on an elevated stage facing east. The Pavilion also has roll down sides, offering protection from the elements. The meadow at Smoky Ridge offers seating for 250+ guests in rows, and overlooks our pond with live fish and a water fountain and babbling brook.
All of the facilities have access to a caterer’s kitchen which has large cabinet space for food assembly and ovens for reheating.

Each bride has access to our beautiful bridal dressing room, offering a spacious area to prepare their hair and make-up, a private bathroom, and a couch. It also offers full length dressing room style mirrors with excellent lighting.
